Hej travel peeps! Have you been out exploring? Me, I’ve mostly been planning and budgeting and prepping for itineraries upcoming. Hammering out details. Sifting through choices.
Do you enjoy all the details? I adore the colorful details on the Islamic tiles in the photo above, a fab find from the impressive collection at the Davids Samlings Museum here in Copenhagen. (PS – you can see it all for free!) But when it comes to travel planning details. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t.
I will admit, I’m a list maker. And while my lists may look messy to you, they help settle my brain. Narrow the options. Check items off. I am the girl of 100 lists. And the 80’s apparently. But I can’t wait to g0-go to Greece and New York City next month!

We are definitely marching into fall here in Denmark. It’s been stormy and damp and I’m deep into planning our fall escape. How about you? Would you ever consider going on a local tour in another language? Would you understand? What it if was the only way to see inside a unique place that you were wanting to visit?
I recently chose the Norwegian language tour option to get an inside look at the Nordland culture museum we visited in Kjerringøy, north of the Arctic Circle. Did I understand it all? Not by a long shot. Although I do think my three years living in Denmark gave me a leg up on other non-native speakers. Fisk. He said fisk! I know what that means. Fish! Fantastisk! Ha. Don’t call me an omniglot just yet.

2017 is the United Nation’s International Year of Sustainable Tourism Development. The World Tourism Organization has just launched a new campaign called Travel. Enjoy. Respect. It aims to encourage us, as the tourists and travelers around the world, to be the catalyst for positive change and impacts in this growing industry. But how can you help? UNWTO offers these tips to consider while traveling:
I am always trying to find ways to make sure our travel choices include businesses that are making positive impacts on the environment and local economies. If you’ve been following me, you know we spent our summer holidays in Northern Norway. Today, I’m sharing our summer glamping safari with WildSeas Adventures, who are dedicated to marine mammal conservation and education. In a country that still offers whale on the menu, the work they do is meaningful and impactful. And the setting is stunning. Come take a look.

Esther from Your Dutch Guide shares all things lovely in the Netherlands and beyond. Last week she shared the beautiful message, history and purpose of the Peace Palace located in the Hague.
Ahila from Perspectives Quilt took us to the Hawaiian Island of Oahu and showed us there is so much more to explore than world famous Waikiki Beach. I appreciated her focus on the island’s conservation practices in the nature preserves. We’d all love to see sea turtles in the wild right?
