TRAVEL BLOG COMMUNITY
1 YEAR SHARING TRAVEL STORIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Tillykke! As the Danes say. Congratulations travel peeps! It’s our birthday. It’s our birthday. We’re gonna party like it’s our birthday. Wow. What a fun community of travel writers and bloggers and photographers has come together to share unique and beautiful corners all over the world. We’ve seen posts from 100 countries! Take a look at the map!
You’ve taken us scuba diving and zip lining and hiking to volcanoes. We been off-roading and kayaking and canoeing and skiing. You’ve shown us monkeys, puffins, gorillas, whales and kangaroos too. From little villages to small towns to supremely grand cities, we’ve seen them all. From fancy to free, activities cultural and natural. We can’t wait to see where to add to our travel to-do lists next!
We’re still missing much of the map, so if you’ve got posts about South America, Africa, South Korea or the lesser known Oceania, we’d love to see them. Send us somewhere far away. Thank you again to everyone who has linked, commented, shared and engaged this year. It’s been fantastisk getting to know you!
And cheers to these bloggers whose posts piqued me last week. Here are my favorites…
Faraway Files Favorites Week #48
Toot the horns! Raise the flags! Wear all the costumes and fancy dress you can find! We’re celebrating. Shelley at Purple John took us to Italy for the Palio di Parma, an annual citywide celebration in Parma Italy since the 1300’s. I love the costumes and energy and fun. What a surprise indeed!

Lorelei at California Globetrotter is one of the most consistent and supportive contributors to the Faraway Files community link up. Her posts are chock full of charming half-timbered towns and unique destinations. Last week we got an insider look to her adopted Bavarian town, Regensberg, Germany. Check it out.

Carolyn at Absolutely Fabulous showed us how to cheer for champions on the tennis court with her post about the French Open in Paris. I’ll toast to this view any day. Oh and chocolate mousse! Thanks for the recipe Carolyn!

This week I’m sharing some secret tips to be a respectful tourist and soak up the scene in Rome. Ah Roma. How I love you. Where will you take us today? Cheers to everyone who has made this a wonderful year in this amazing travel community!
FARAWAY FILES TRAVEL BLOG COMMUNITY LINKUP #49
WANT TO JOIN IN?
Jump in! The water is fine! Faraway Files is a creative community of travel bloggers who inspire and share each other’s posts. All participating hosts will read and comment on every post that participates in the spirit of the link up. We will also share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favorites and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.
As Faraway Files hosts, Katy, Clare and I love our link up and this supportive travel community. With over 130 contributors, we have read about 80 countries and territories around the world.
If you join in and leave a link please reciprocate and comment on the hosts’ posts as well as at least two others that spark an interest. If we see a pattern of people not joining in, sadly we have decided to remove the links of those posters in the future.
HOW IT WORKS:
- Link up one travel-related post and add the Faraway Files badge onto the post or your blog (code below) or link back to the hosts.
- The link-up will go live every Thursday at 8 am UK time (9 am, CET) until midnight on Friday. It will alternate between Untold Morsels, Suitcases and Sandcastles, and Oregon Girl around the World.
- Link ups work best if everyone shares so please comment on all three of the hosts’ posts and at least two others.
