With so many corners of the world to share and explore, I want to know – what is it that draws you to seek out a specific place. I have thought about what makes a place sing to us once there, but how will we know that it might before we endeavor to get there?

But where do you begin to gather your inspiration? Is it a picture? Seeing an image, emitting a gasp and thinking to yourself – I would LOVE to go there! It is often as simple as that for me. I’m a visual person. And once my curiosity is piqued, I usually dig deeper. Look up more. Fuel the fire. Feed the urge. I read blogs and surf travel sites and take notes and make pins. You too?

When I first moved to Copenhagen, I came across an image on Instagram of these charming, graphic blue and white lifeguard towers. Where was that? I loved them and just had to see them. I engaged the person who had originally posted and quickly determined the specific location. It was Bellevue Beach. North of Copenhagen in Klampenborg, Denmark. It wouldn’t take long until I could make my way there on a wintery morning. I spent a good hour soaking in the scene and snapping shots. I have since returned often, as it is lovely in all seasons. But I first sought it out because I’d seen it before.

FAraway Files

Faraway Files has definitely helped spark my wanderlust and my wish list keeps growing! Each week, I have been taken to places that I never even knew that I needed to know. Do you feel that way? Can reading about a new place bump other places down your list? I don’t really ever take places OFF my list. I just keep adding!

FAVORITES WEEK #13

So without further ado, I present to you my favorite places that I need to know soon that I learnt of last week. These are my favorite posts. Check with Katy and Clare for theirs.

Ireland is a place that has always been on my list and seemed to be a popular destination to share last week. I loved the pictorial tour through Van’s lens of Snow in Tromso – the light in this image was my favorite!

Lisbon has long been lingering on my list, but Faraway Files newcomer Catherine Rose at La Vie en C-Rose helped make it climb up a few spots with these ever-loverly images. All I think I need is love and Belem.

Catherine at Cultural Wednesdays snuck in a visit to France’s museum of milk. Do you care about Camembert? This quirky stop in Lactopôle may seem cheesy, but it a serious passion here. Take the tour, get a taste. Yes please. I never knew I needed to visit.

And lastly, but not leastly – this post from Jonny at The Adventures of Daisy the Bus. He takes us spelunking in the forests around Luxembourg. The mystery and adventure of the magical Mullerthal shines through makes me want to visit.
