SHARING TRAVEL STORIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Hello travel peeps! We’re back! Well – I’m almost back. Leaving Latvia later today after a lovely winter break across the Baltic Sea from Copenhagen. It has been the perfect place for a city break plus winter fun for our whole family. We had an adventure taking the train from Riga and getting off at the wrong stop to trek through a snowy forest, snag a ride from the passing bus and finally find our destination – the Latvian winter sports center in Sigulda. Here you can slide down a regulation bobsled, skeleton and luge track like the big kids. It was a blast. And then so fun to see some of the live action happening in South Korea from Latvia, knowing the turns some of those athletes took to get to Pyeong Chang. Literally. More coming soon on the blog!
I love the Olympics and have selected some of my favorites from the last Faraway Files linkup with that theme in mind. What is your favorite winter sport?

Schussing the slopes this season? You should try Sankt Moritz says Urška of Slovenian Girl Abroad. Since the winter Olympics is on – I’m suddenly wanting to go skiing! This spot was home to the games in 1928 and 1948 and a worthy contender for Faraway Files favorite gold. Thanks for sharing Urška!

Former summer Olympics host Montréal makes a wonderful destination come mid-winter. But maybe everything won’t be open, discovered Eddie from Eddie’s Ready. Being open to the experience and soaking up the poutine always makes up for what you might miss. Joy to the World Eddie!

And while not Olympic in nature necessarily, I loved Annette from Four Acorns adventure exploring the unique Coral Beach at Connemara with her littles. The idea of slow traveling along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way seems like perfection. And with time to peruse the pools and paddle the clear water in this pretty place.

This week I’m illuminating the Danish capital with this year’s inaugural Copenhagen Light Festival. There are some beautiful displays to help Copenhagen Lighten Up this month. Cheers!

I’m excited to have made the link up this week! I can’t wait to read all of these posts!
Great to have your contribution Elizabeth! I used many of your reco’s for Riga this week – we loved it!
We love St Moritz as well, very cute and posh, good skiing and very sophisticated food options, fun horses on the lake – the only trouble is quite expensive! Have been few times with good friends, we always have a great time but end up paying an arm and a leg ?
I’ve heard that! Will be saving my kroner!
Thank you so much for the feature Erin. I’m away in France this week but will try to link up again next time 😉
I’m glad you liked my St Moritz post. 🙂 I also LOVE you wrote my name in original version with š. <3 Much appreciated!
I’m used to using the alternative characters on my keyboard! Cheers to you!
