Faraway Files #58

Travel Blog Community

SHARING TRAVEL STORIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Today is the last Faraway Files Travel Blog Community link up for 2017 . It’s been a good year for travel in our house. We saw Paris, Athens and New York. We explored islands from above the Arctic Circle in Lofoten, Norway to mid-Baltic Bornholm, Denmark and south to Kefalonia, Greece. I am grateful for the opportunities to explore and share these amazing places with my family. Thank you for sharing your travels and faraway places with us each week.

As you know, we have added two amazing bloggers to our hosting team – Hilary of Hilary Style, who is hosting this week, and Corey of Fifi + Hop. Of course we needed a new Faraway Files badge to celebrate. Check it out. We’ll be using this one starting today. We hope you like it!

NOTE: We’ll take a two-week break and be back in the New Year. I will be hosting the first Faraway Files link up of 2018 on Thursday, January 4th. Mark your calendars and join us then! But first, some favorites!

Faraway Files Favorites Week #56

Did 2017 give you chance to tick off any travel wish list items? It did us. It seems it did for Juliette at Snorkels to Snow as well. I’m used to seeing Juliette underwater in warm Fiji, but she traveled to Iceland and snorkeled in the uber clear glacial waters of the Silfra Fissure between techtonic plates. Would you do it? She has a great video on the blog giving a great sense of what it was like. Check it out!

While snorkeling the Sinfra Fissure in Iceland might not be at the top of my travel wish list, an African safari certainly is. The Travelling Lindfields shared their experience in the Klein Karoo, South Africa where they saw giraffes and zebra and meerkats and more. Click over to their post just to see the meerkat!

And because I’m craving a little bit of the white stuff that I’ve seen falling around Northern Europe, I chose Urška of Slovenian Girl Abroad’s post about skiing Zermatt in Switzerland. Such epic mountains and a perfect winter escape. My wishlist just got longer!

This week, I’ve got a little holiday gift for you. It’s my second annual Scandinavian Winter tunes playlist. Enjoy! Glædelig Jul and Godt Nytar from Copenhagen! Happy New Year!

FARAWAY FILES TRAVEL BLOG COMMUNITY LINKUP #58

WANT TO JOIN IN?

Jump in! The water is fine! Faraway Files is a creative community of travel bloggers who inspire, engage and share each other’s posts. All participating hosts will read and comment on every post that participates in the spirit of the link up. We will also share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favorite posts and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.

HOW IT WORKS:
  • Link up one travel-related post and add the Faraway Files badge onto the post or your blog (code below) or link back to the hosts.
  • The link-up will go live every Thursday at 8 am UK time (9 am, CET) until midnight on Friday. It will alternate between Fifi + Hop, Hilary Style, Oregon Girl Around the World, Suitcases and Sandcastles, and Untold Morsels. Check Twitter #FarawayFiles to confirm who is hosting each week.
  • Link ups work best if everyone engages so please comment on each of the hosts’ posts and at least two others that take your fancy.
