THIRTY-six weeks of Sharing travel stories around the world
Happy summer! Or to those down in the southern hemi – happy winter! Does anyone actually say that? Hemi? Or. Happy winter? Now I want to know. But in case you were wondering, up here on the north shore we definitely say happy summer. Technically I don’t live on the north shore of anywhere, but my internal American movie references are strong today. Bonus points if you can name the movie! Go ahead – comment below!
Maybe because it’s summer, or maybe because we’ve been on holiday all last week, or maybe because all three of my children are home with me and I’m already feeling a little punchy trying to balance getting stuff done and entertaining them… I’m really ready to go far away. Even my segues are punchy right now. No? Stay with me.
We’ve been to Bornholm and back. And while not really that far away from us here in Copenhagen, it did feel like a world away. Bornholm is a Danish island in the Baltic Sea, about three hours from the capital. It is the furthest eastern point of Denmark and ironically you have to drive through Sweden to get there. And while the weather did not hold the promises as the sunniest spot in the country, it well may have been the most idyllic. I loved it. Beautiful fields of grains dotted with red poppies and purply-blue cornflowers to run through, delicious smoked fish to taste and tons of history to explore.
I’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks, but today I’m taking you to find the last three forgotten giants in the hills around Copenhagen. Where will you take us? The Faraway Files travel blog community link up is right here today. We’d love to have you play along. Drop a link. Add a badge. Say hej on a few blogs. (That’s Danish for hi.) Join the community. Cheers from Copenhagen! Erin
FARAWAY FILES TRAVEL BLOG COMMUNITY LINKUP #36
WANT TO JOIN IN?
We’d love you to join us in building this supportive and growing community who will inspire and share each other’s posts. All three hosts will try to read and comment on every post and we’ll share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favorites and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.
HOW IT WORKS:
- Link up one travel-related post and add the Faraway Files badge onto the post or your blog (code below) or link back to the hosts.
- The link up will go live every Thursday at 8 am UK time (9 am, CET) until midnight on Friday. It will alternate between Untold Morsels, Suitcases and Sandcastles, and Oregon Girl around the World.
- Link ups work best if everyone shares so please comment on all three of the hosts’ posts and at least two others.

Thanks for sharing about this Danish island I had never heard of before. That looks like a fun “playground” for the kids!
