SHARING TRAVEL STORIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Welcome back! It’s been a bit. Hoping your summer holiday was happy and hot (or not depending on what you wanted). This year, we made a conscious decision not to fly for our vacation, having already been to Hawaii earlier in the year. So for the first time in our almost five years in Europe, we took a road trip. An epic road trip. For us anyway. Starting from home in Copenhagen, we drove through Germany and Belgium to the south of France where we spent a wonderful week with friends at a gîte in Saint-André-de-Sangonis in the Languedoc region. I’m still missing the cold local rosé and fresh gorgeous tomatoes from the market.
Our return route took us through Switzerland to see friends and climb mountains. Seriously stunning. Then a quick stop in Alsace, the Black Forest and Heidelberg on our way home. Two weeks and 5300 kilometers later, we have a string of memories made. We loved the freedom of the road and the spontaneity of choices. I’ve got a few of the experiences up on the blog already and will be sharing more soon. Stay tuned. But enough about us, I want to know what you got up to this June, July and August!
Before you share, here are the favorites from last link up:
FAVORITES FROM FARAWAY FILES #131
Corey of Fifi + Hop hosted our last summer link up and these were her favorites. Check them out if you haven’t already and give a virtual high five to the following travel community members:
Vaucluse Dreamer made an impressive ride to the top of Mount Ventoux in southern France. This is only one of the beauty shots – click over and see the effort and when the sun fully came up!

Swoony little Italian village of Limone sul Garda on Lake Garda is just dreamy. Don’t know it? Let Janis and Gary of Our World for You show you an inside peek. So pretty. Next summer’s destination? Sorted.

And last, but not least – check out this local guide for families with littles looking to explore Perth in Western Australia. Thanks to A World of Travels With Kids for this comprehensive list!

This week I’m sharing a collection of sustainable crabbing and fishing customs from around the world. As an Oregon girl, it is something I grew up and loved to do. Moving to Scandinavia, I learned it’s a tradition here too, a little different sized crustaceans, but still fun.

WANT TO JOIN IN?
Jump in! The water is fine! Faraway Files is a creative community of travel bloggers who inspire, engage and share each other’s posts. All participating hosts will read and comment on every post that participates in the spirit of the link up. We will also share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favorite posts and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.
HOW IT WORKS:
- Link up one travel-related post and add the Faraway Files badge onto the post or your blog (code below) or link back to the hosts.
- The link-up will go live every Thursday at 8 am UK time (9 am, CET) until midnight on Friday. It will alternate between Fifi + Hop, Hilary Style, Oregon Girl Around the World and Suitcases and Sandcastles. Check Twitter #FarawayFiles to confirm who is hosting each week.
- Link ups work best if everyone engages so please comment on each of the hosts’ posts and at least two others that take your fancy.
